a night at the museum

Yesterday, I got an invitation to join some friends at the Met for drinks. I didn't realize this was even an option! The thought of it was very intriguing, but I had no idea what to expect.
It turns out that on Fridays and Saturdays, the museum is open late (who knew!? I'll be able to go a lot more often). The Great Hall balcony is transformed into a bar complete with dozens of small tables, servers, and a string ensemble. Two days ago, I never thought I'd be sitting next to a display of seventeenth-century Persian dishes, listening to a professional classical music performance, and sharing a bottle of Chianti with Candice and Virginia. I can't wait to stumble on more of these opportunities -- I have a feeling they're not just an only-in-New-York experience, either! What surprising events have you stumbled on?

That is so awesome!!!! I'm totally jealous! We have nothing exciting like that....but we have a Logan who can sit by himself...does that count? :) Love you!

Those are beautiful pictures of the museum at night!
There are some museum nights in Milwaukee, too - don't know why it sounds so much harder to drive downtown than to take the bus across the park...
Then of course there are the Waukesha Art Crawl nights - good, but not quite like wine and classical music at the MET!

Hey, Ellie,
Cool-looking/sounding museum - hard to believe that you guys will be back in about a month! Where are you planning to live? Please keep us in the loop!

The Art Museum and I believe Milwaukee Public Museum both have those nights but there is a cost to go I believe. The first one at the Art Museum made the news because people were tanked and hanging on sculptures and stuff!!! Art Crawl nights are fun too because the bars always do something special to coincide and I believe even the Waukesha Historical Society and Museum did a Night at the Museum event. Don't know all the details but it sure did sound fun!!
